Payments

As sponsors make their monthly payments, you will be able to record the donations and track their account balances.

A sponsor payment can come from one of three sources: the sponsor, a third-party person (a person other than the sponsor), or a third-party business/organization. Regardless of who makes the payment, the sponsor's account is credited with the donation.

To add a sponsorship payment, click the "Add new payment" link found on the sponsorship record or the sponsorship financials page.

You will now see a screen that lets you select the person or business making the payment. In our first example, the sponsor (Asha Arnolds) will be making the payment.

We now see the new payment form. We add the payment amount, date, payment type, check number, and accounting country. Note that the accounting country defaults to the accounting country set by the sponsorship, but you can change it if necessary.

After saving our sponsorship payment, we are returned to the payment record screen. From here we can edit or delete the payment record, or add a new sponsorship payment.

When we return to the sponsorship record, we see that the payments section and account balance have been updated.

Adding a Third-Party Business Payment

You will sometimes have the situation where someone other than the sponsor makes a payment towards a sponsorship. Delightful Labor applies the payment to the appropriate sponsorship, but also credits the third-party with the donation.

We begin the process just as above, where we click the "Add new payment" link:

We now begin the search for the business that has made a sponsorship payment for Asha Arnold's sponsorship. In this example, the payment was made by Acme Anvils:

We select Acme Anvils as the payer:

We add the payment information:

When we are returned to the payment record, we see the payment, as well as information about the third-party payer:

Adding a Payment from a Different Accounting Country

You may occasionally have the situation where a payment is received from a currency that is not the default set for the sponsorship. Delightful Labor will handle this situation by creating a separate account under the sponsorship for the various currencies.

In our example, we begin as always - by clicking the "Add new payment" link:

We make our way to the payment form. In this example, we received a $20 (US) payment for a Canadian sponsorship. On the payment form, we select the US as the accounting country:

When we return to the sponsorship form, we see the new payment:

We now view the sponsorship financials:
